According to Bateman and Snell (2009), " the effective and efficient supervision of all 4 functions of management is the key to being a good manager. ” To accomplish this task, a manager need to master and apply all four functions (planning, organizing, leading and controlling) of supervision on a regular basis. Creating an effective and efficient organization is a worthwhile task for almost any manager to strive to. It requires a very delicate controlling act that lots of managers are not able to achieve. The standard manager will be good at one or maybe two of the capabilities of managing, but it requires a great leader to achieve all four functions of management with just one administrator. Planning can be defined by simply Bateman and Snell (2009), as " The managing function of systematically producing decisions regarding the goals and activities that an individual, a group, a piece unit, or the overall corporation will pursue. ” Planning is the difference between a successful and unsuccessful director.. Planning, the first managing function requires analysis of physical conditions in a business, perhaps conditions that need to be solved or analysis of devices that need improvement to become cost effective. Planning is definitely the first step a manager and is vital as it helps control, useful decision making and in the avoidance of business ruin.. Preparing also requires anticipation of future demands of the business to be successful. By simply assembling and coordinating a persons, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals a manager would be concluding the second function, the function of arranging. According to Bateman and Snell (2009) " Managing activities contain attracting people to the organization, indicating job obligations, grouping careers into operate units, marshaling and allocating resources, and creating circumstances so that persons and things work together to attain maximum achievement. ”...
